Well, first of all I can't believe I'm posting this for all to see, but I do have a purpose.
Some of you may not know all of us "ole timers" and even we are still learning 
Having owned gliders for several years, I have always filled their cages with LOTS of wonderful things to play with - some quite ingenious I might add - except the Wodent Wheel.
Why? I don't have a clue. Well, one night I put in a hamster wheel that I had just to see what they would do - and you guessed it - they had an absolute blast. Knowing that they could injure themselves on this, I immediately ordered the infamous Wodent Wheel.
People, if you don't have one - get one. I have never laughed so much as I have watching my three try to spin that thing with all three in at once. Of course, they don't want to all go the same direction 
I could have saved alot of money in the long run had I only spent the little one of these wonderful wheels cost.
JUST DO IT ;)

I have plastic suspended hamster wheels and my gliders enjoy running upside down on the outside as they do running in the wheel right side up.

Yes, I too would highly recommend one. They're not a luxury, they're a necessity!!!
*side note for new owners... if your cage is smelly? Check your wheel! Gliders poop and pee "on the run"!

I know what you are doing, you are checking out my ticker right? you knew i couldn't slide on this one, come to think of it, you knew I wouldn't slide on any of them.. What are we going for the "ole timer" shock factor? You just want to see how long I am going to last don't you? The addage is, i won't be handed anything i can not handle, and each thing that freaks me prepares me for something bigger.. hmmmm well girfiriend you can stop now okay?
For those new owners that don't know.. and I must tell you since Karen like just slid through that really fast.. The wire wheels are dangerous for a glider, so many accidents and no way to fix them. Between the tail getting broke (means amputaion for most, no gliding possible self mutialtion during the healing processes.) to arms and legs getting broken (there is no way at this time to heal those either) to torn and ripped membranes (again no help there to get them back to normal). PLEASE PLEASE get them a Wodent Wheel, they were designed with Gliders in mind.

Karen, Jane has a wheel in her cage for each glider, hmmm doesn't sound like a bad idea huh?
I think I am up to 6 now.. The funniest I have seen is Dytee trying to climb up the side of hers.. and needless to say not getting to far at all..
Rachel, I have all our wheels hanging from the top, they do love it up there, i think they believe they are running along brnches or something they way they go at it. I had one on a bookcase , and they never toughed it. but then hung it high and they haven't stopped it from turning yet.
Shell, you are right, that thing must be cleaned weekly if not more, but those dag on pins are driving me nuts, had the hubby take a tap set and thread the end for me, I put a nylon wing nut on it.

Instead of a Wodent Wheel, I bought a hamster ball that is used for the little one to run outside of the cage protected from other critters. This also came with a base to make a wheel inside of the cage, so my Kiki has a two-part toy. (The best part is that it only cost about 5 bucks, and there are no holes for her get trapped by.)
I also found that by putting the fine sandpaper inside the wheel that I don't really need to trim her nails since she runs so much.

robin,does the sand paper burn her feet as it shortens her nails? my three guys have two wodent wheels . one waits outside for one to hop out and then he jumps in, its like "the line forms to the left". i am disappointed in you karen, you were my idol!!!!

Robin...doesn't that kind have little slits in it? If tis the kind I am thinking of they have broken nails in that..becuse they get stuck ion the slits..its not as serious as lossing tails and legs..but it still bleeds.

My glider love hamster balls..."for them to poop on!( Conan O'Brien fan). My gliders use hamster balls like rotating toilets. They pee and run and slide through it and then comes time to poop. It is not worth giving gliders baths.

It does have little slits, but it is completely covered with fine sandpaper so she can't get hurt.
Collette-I have been watching her feet carefully cuz I've heard of the feet getting "burned", but that has not happened. I originally tried the ball without the sandpaper first, and she actually runs it more now WITH the sandpaper. Just keep a good eye out for any unusualness to their sensitive paws.
I actually think she's smart enough to know when to stop. She'll run a few laps, than stop, then run again. Then she'll climb around her cage and go back to the ball for another jog.

Just got whodent wheel LOVE IT!!!! Well my gliders love it, Never thought of hanging it from the top of cage.... must try that they have lots of toys on the bottom and can get crowded....

Rachel, if you haven't tried the wodent wheel yet.. please do.. I'll tell you, if you don't have one by Christmas, I personally am going to stick a bug in someones ear  you'll wonder why you went so long without one.. I bet that KarenE is just about kicking herself in the butt for not getting one sooner..

Oh, Bourbon you posted my info! Well actually it is a slight exageration, I only have four wodent wheels in the fivesomes cage. Though I do have two, one for each, for Luci and Bubba. It is pretty funny four wodent wheels all lined up at the top of the cage with a shelf under it to prevent accidents. For such a small amount they give tons of fun.

My Gliders love their wodent wheels. They run in them in spurts all nite long. I got my last 5 at the site that Jane posted and when you order several, they are very inexpensive and they shipped them out the next day. Great service there. ;)

I dont know why I never got one. I guess I just didnt think they would use it because they have never had one. Maybe they'll get on for christmas!! I might just order one now.. All these stories are tempting me to get one hehehe

I have rats and hamsters, and they've always had wodent wheels. WhenI got my glider I just happened to have an extra wheel around and she LOVES it! Every night I can hear that thing... vroom, vroom, vroom... and every morning it's in a slightly different spot (Starshine fancies herself an interior decorator. She is constantly moving anything that's not anchored down -- and even then sometimes she manages to get it free -- around her cage!) I have the small wheel and it's the perfect size for her. But I just got a friend for her... do you think I should consider upgrading to the middle size wheel?

PS Ok, this isn't SG related, but I have to add this note. I have some African Pygmy Dormice. They too have Wodent Wheels. Watching them on the wheel is hialrious! One will run inside the wheel while the other hangs on the outside and goes for a ride. It's too cute!

My one lone wheel for now anyway, sits on the bottom of the cage.
I am considering hanging it from the top though so I will have room for the second one

I have five baby degus that also pull the same stunt ... a few on the inside and a few on the outside
