I went to a family reunion this weekend and they had a petting zoo come in for the
occasion. It was mostly pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, and horses so I wasn't too interested at first. Then to my horror I spotted a small bird cage with a pouch in it and immediately knew what it was. I was shocked that someone thought it was a good idea to bring a glider to a petting zoo. Some kids were poking at the pouch and shaking the cage to see what was inside. Needless to say I rushed over there and pulled the pouch out to see how the little guy was doing. To my surprise this was one of the most friendly and tolerant gliders I had ever seen. I spent the next hour babysitting the little guy and helping to show him off to people. He loved climbing on other people for a few minutes so they could take a picture, then would come straight back to me. He probably liked that I smelled like other gliders, I had just been handling my female before leaving to the reunion so that most likely peaked his attention. He was very awake the entire hour and didn't seem to mind being handled in the middle of the day at all. All in all it turned out pretty well, after an hour he settled back in his pouch to go to sleep and I was showing people how much he liked his chin and chest scratched. The woman who owned him was very nice also, she seemed to know a little bit about gliders except she thought she had a girl. When he popped his head out the first thing I saw was that "she" was sporting a very prominant bald spot. Well at least this glider had a name that would work either way. I gave her all my contact info and a couple websites to look up so hopefully I'll get to talk to her again.
