Well, all of you that know how long Ive had my gliders.. you know that Jerry was my first. I was in my bed all snuggled up with my PD, and I just couldnt sleep. I took one last peek in my glider cage and found Jerry doing what looked like banging his head on the floor! He had one hand in the air so I thought he had something stuck in his whiskers and was trying to get it out. I took a closer look and found he had his mouth wide open with his tongue sticking out! I knew right away he was trying to cough something up because he was choking! OMG I freaked out and thought I was going to be witnessing my first gliders death tonight. I found that not only couldnt he breathe but neither could I!!! I had no clue how much it would help but I grabbed him and squeezed his body really tight for a second. Still choking.. tried it again and again and he stopped, mouth closed a little and something came up but he chewed it up and swallowed it. Then I noticed his chest was all wet from him trying to cough up what he was choking on. My breathing still isnt normal just yet but, I am so glad I didnt fall asleep tonight! Usually I see it as a curse, honestly its turned out to be a blessing. I swear I almost suffered a heart attack in the process of seeing it as a blessing but things in life dont always come easy.

That was a close call. Are you going to have him vet checked in the morning even though he appears to be fine now?

Well, you actually may have just performed the first glider hymlick (sp). Wouldn't you know that little toot would chew up what he was choking on so you don't know what it was.
