if they chew on any tape & swallow it that could do some serious dammage to their digestive tract

They will chew/pick at it, regarless of the tape kind. Gliders are smart and curious. If they can pick it off, chew it apart, dismantle it, etc, they will do so. That's what you get when you have pets with hands!

duct tape has fibers in it (serious choking hazzard) - electrical tape doesnt -- but i recommend against the use of either -- the adhesive on either isnt good for the glider --nor is any of the tape pieces they may accidentally injest

If it can be duct taped it might be able to be wire/cable tied. They make them tiny, and they make them huge and long. Don't know if it will work. Many have mentioned them on here. I can usually figure away to attatch whatever with those. Mine don't chew on them, though on a occassion I made the mistake of leaving the remnant stickin up and they had a BLAST pouncing on it and swatting with their sweet little hands.

What do you mean line your cage, the bottom? Is it wood?

I have a bird toy in a cage that has chains, I covered the chains with electrical tape and it is less shiny. The gliders have been uninterested for 5 months. They play on the toy, but don't touch the tape. Right now there are two adults and two 6 week olds in there. The USDA agent thought it would be fine. I would check it if you use it as I did to make sure they are not interested. Somegliders will be more curious than others.
