Well, the monkey biscuits which I got at a local pet store are in fact monkey food which some people use as treats and/or dry food.
I was able to obtain a very small amount ... thank goodness. My gliders would not touch them and I guess I can't blame them. Afterall, we keep preaching that dog food is for dogs, cat food is for cats ... so it stands to reason that monkey biscuits are for monkeys.
If I were you I would save my money. Check the links section for alternative treats made for gliders.

Any pet store should carry monkey biscuit. There are different kinds - not all are liked by the gliders. Mine absolutely love it and devour it at once. The breeder I bought most of my animals from recommends a special one that must be ordered; I lost the info but when I get it from her, I'll pass the info on. (Not all breeders are reliable, but mine - Cindy - is outstanding and she really knows what she is doing. I trust her implicitly. I got BeBop and GG, my original wild caught pair from her almost 5 years ago.

I had an iguana for many yrs that loved them, they are a hard round disk type of thing that you drop in water and the absorb it and expand and get mushy, I have never given them to my gliders as I dont know if they are good for them ( can theydigestit ect) I have read posts that people have put up saying they put them in apple juice for gliders but like I saaid not sure if they are a good food for gliders. would love some more input.

Debbie, Kimi, trust me sugar gliders - like people are individuals whose tastes will vary and this is to be expected. Mine are very discriminating and won't eat a lot of things, but they do love monkey biscuit. I give it to them dry and they demolish it that way. (It gives them something else to eat, should they choose not to eat the fresh fruit on the menu of they day.) Also, served dry, it will not spoil or attract fruit flies. Try it, if your gliders don't eat it, don't give it to them. I have 14 gliders and they will go thru a 1 pound package in a week, if I let them. Whereas you can soften it with fruit juice or nectar, I have never found that necessary. Trust me when I tell you that in 5 years of raising gliders I have not had a single sick animal (except JJ who had a hernia and that had nothing to do with her diet). When I first got my gliders alsmost 5 years ago, everyone told me I couldn't give them yogurt because they couldn't digest the lactose. Guess what, many of them had gliders with hind leg paralysis; none of mine have ever had the problem - some of theirs did. I love gliders to much to tell you something I have not found to be true in my own experience.

Hi,
I got them w/my baby glider. She LOVES them. I dont soak them, just dry. I just give her one a couple times a week. Id say she likes them almost or more than grapes, her other fav. So, as far as I know they are O.K. for your glider, good souce of protein and helps keep the teeth nice.

I'm with you, Linda; all of my gliders love monkey biscuit and devour it dry. I can go thru a 1 pound bag a week with 14 gliders. (They don't get it every day or even every week.)

Mine love their bisquits. I get them the Ralston high protien monkey diet. I had to call around to get it and finally found it at a feed store. It cost $13.25 for a 25lb bag. Fairly economical. The dogs likes it as treats too!

KarenE I agree with you. Monkey biscuits have their pluses, but they are not made for gliders. I dont recommend them to be used. It doesn't take much research to look at the ingredients and see that it isn't suitable for gliders.

Thank you for all your input! As usual, there are conflicting opinions. My interpretation of this is that as an occasional rare treat they would probably enjoy it but I probably won't go out of my way to find it, or invest in a 25# bag (as I only have two gliders). You all are awesome glider-lover supporters!
