Rigby has been constipated for about a week now, and I have no idea what to do. I called the vet and he said to change his diet and if that didn't help to bring him in, but the only thing he could do was to take a sample and to find the cause..his diet consists of leadbeaters, fruits, vegetables, and babyfood...nothing really hard...if anyone has any suggestions...we would both be grateful...oh..a friend suggested mineral oil...i haven't tried it yet..i don't know if it would be harmful...thanks for any advice

Mineral oil is not dangerous to give to your glider for constipation - BUT do it in moderation if you choose to use it!

I would try some peach or apricot nectar first... maybe mixed with a little applejuice.

Raisins, figs, and prunes have worked really well for my gliders when they are constipated. I suggest you try the natural stuff first. Mineral oil doesn't fix the problem, it just addresses the symptom ("greasing the passage"). To turn this around, you've got to get to the root of the problem. Make sure your glider is getting enough moisture; peach nectar as suggested above, and fruits like melon -- watermelon and cantalope go over well -- and grapes. This will keep the little guy hydrated. Best of luck, and keep us posted.
