One of my 2 female gliders does this about once a month and I think she is in heat and
sexually frustrated. She'e done this for about a year and a half, and shows no sign of
being hurt, ill or in pain--in fact she seems more hyper on those nights than usual.
Actually, last week when she did it, my other female glider kept mounting her, like a male.
It was a little odd! They have never done this before, that I've noticed.
The hiss-bark thing is kind of annoying--I don't get much sleep those nights. I can tell
too when she is going to have a night of doing it, because she'll do the teeth chatter
noise whenever I check on her before she wakes up for the night. Otherwise, she never
makes these noises.
Silly gliders.
