I was going more by my Lucy's behavior. She rejected 2 joeys which were handled BEFORE their eyes opened. This last joey, I held off until the eyes were open almost a week before I handled him.
This time, there was no problem. Just didn't want her to have to go thru that ordeal.
But, as always :-), you are right. She just needs to see how her mom reacts to her trying to handle a joey this young.
