I would have to say this is definitely not the "norm". These little guys can be quite vocal. However, my first SG, Charlie, also never made a peep. Why should he, he had everything his little heart could desire :-)
If you are sure your SG is healthy, then he is probably a very very happy glider.
I might check with the vet though, just to be sure. Maybe a phone call would be all that is required.
