I agree, your glider should be much more tame before you take her anywhere.
One way you can get close to her in the day without getting bitten would be to give her a pouch of some sort to sleep in, then pick up the pouch with her in it. She will be easier to pick up in the pouch than without. If you use a sock, make very sure the sock won't snag. You can cut an old sock off at the heel, she'll probably like it.
A sock that can snag can be hazzardous to the glider so be very careful.
Also, if you reach to her with the back of your fingers first she'd be less intimidated than if you reach with an open hand.
