Subject: Introducing gliders...NOT WORKING! Help!
Posted by Erin on December 08, 1998 at 11:33:04:

Well, there must be something in the air since the last few posts have been about gliders fighting. Here's my situation: I tried to introduce Rocky and Wink, but Wink keeps freaking out everytime Rocky gets near her. I took them into the bathroom with a flashlight (neutral territory) and once Rocky explored the bathroom, he came over to Wink, who was sitting on my shoulder. She freaked out, starting making a hissing noise, and kept away from him. I tried again last night by just holding her (she was actually holding me) in front of Rocky so she'd feel safer, and she still hissed at him. When I've let him out of his cage to check out the bedroom, he seems fascinated by her and jumps on her cage, which causes her to make noises and go after his feet.

Any suggestions? I was hoping they'd be getting along before the holidays since I'm leaving to visit my parents and wanted them to have each other for company.

I basically want to know if I'm seperating them too soon, or if I should leave them together for a bit and see if Wink calms down after a hissing fit. Should I just put her in his cage for a few hours...? Anyone have any stories to share? Thanks for any help!
