I just wanted to give a BIG THANK YOU to those who responded to the questions my daughter, Chris asked regarding her baby glider's "puffy cheek". By the way, the glider was our birthday gift to Chris when she turned 16 in October. Chris has affectionately named her "Creature". :( But I call her Sassy.

We took her to the vet first thing this morning. It was, in fact, an abscess. The vet anesthetized her, drained it and sent us home with antibiotics. I was worried sick about the anesthetic because she is so tiny, and I've never had a small pet like her. Besides that, I have grown to adore her in the past 2 months.

I would definitely advise anyone who is a new owner or thinking of becoming one, to find a vet immediately that knows something about sugar gliders. I think that was the worst part for me---knowing that the Doctor had only treated 1-2 sugar gliders prior to meeting Creature.

At any rate, she's fine at this point. We're watching her very closely. I do have to say that I may have let it go for another day if you people hadn't replied to Chris' posts. Thanks again!!!!

Donna
