: :I took out the peanuts what else should i have in there??
Offer him a variety of fruits and veggies mixed together. Try to avoid veggies that cause gas such as cucumbers, broccoli, califlower, cabbage, etc. Also you want to provide him with a protein source, instead of cat food try using bugs or using a high protein cereal in your leadbeaters mix.
What do u offer ur glier(s)?
I feed mine the accu-feed for sugar gliders, I offer them the occasional sunflower seed, an occasional grape and the occasional piece of critter cookie.
i put a hard boild egg in his cage too when should i take out the fruits and veggies and egg?? tomorrow morning??
Yes remove all left over food the morning after feeding it to the glider.
should i leave him the sunflower seeds?
Give them only as an occasional treat, while they are not as high in fat content as the peanut they still contain quite a bit of fat in the oils.
: :Should i tottaly eleminate cat food??
I would, I would not risk the complications from feeding it to a glider.
: :what fruits do u feed urs??
I feed the occasional grape, but if you are feeding a mixed fruit and veggie diet some fruits to try would be apple, pear, grapes, and kiwi. Avacados too are high in fat.
: :i have heard to give him fresh fruits along with acu-feed no????
No, with the accu-feed you do not need to feed it anything else, you can give bits of fruit and such as an occasional treat but the more fruits and veggies that you feed with the accu-feed the further from a balanced diet that you get.
and i dont have but a little sample right now untill i can get more what should he eat?
75% of his diet should be fruits and veggies, 25% of it should be protein.
and is 2 oz= 1/4 cup? lol i feel stupid
Don't feel stupid, the only stupid question is the one that you do not ask. You can get a diet scale pretty cheap that will measure food in oz. Look in your local grocers for that. You can also use it to keep track of your gliders weight.
and when i do this is all i feed him every day?? if so wont he get bored with it??
Two oz. of accu-feed a day is the most that he will need. I have been feeding it as a sole diet to my gliders for nearly two years now with excellent results and mine do not seem to be bored. I am more concerned about providing a good diet that may prevent disease or blindness. Thank goodness that all 22 of my gliders like the accu-feed.
: :you do not want to leave food in it's cage for a week. Even with the accu-feed you want to offer fresh food daily.
: :heh i didnt mean leave it in his cage for a week, i meant a daily plan to feed him for ex. mon 1/4 cup fruit 2 oz acu-feed etc
Sorry about the misunderstanding,,,he should have the above mixture each night if you are not feeding the accu-feed,,,75% fruits and veggies and 25% protein.
: : This is because you and his home are all new to him. Take him out of his cage daily, wear him in a pouch or in your pocket, or try the two shirt method. Put on a T-shirt and then a long sleeved shirt on over that and tuck them both in. Let your glider run around between the two shirts. Put some material that has your scent on it into his nest to allow him to get use to your scent. Try to avoid socks as some gliders have lost life and limb to pulled strings from socks.
: : i tried that shirt thingy lol he got pissed at first i unhooked his little sleep bag thingy i made and put it in my shirt hoping he would crawl out of it, but the second i touch his bag he starts growling at me(u know what i mean) he does this anytime he is in his nest box or the other bag thingy and i get too close too him but when hes out of them hes fine well back to my story... and i put it in my shirt man he growled for a straight 5 mins till i put him back in his cage hehe when i coaxed him out of his bag in the cage i got him to crawl out onto the door of the cage i picked him up (and surprisingly he didnt bite) and started to put him in my shirt and he grabbed on the neck of my shirt and crawled out quick soo i tried agai this time getting him in and shit he got pissed!!! he jumped out of my shirt and jumped and hit my dresser and fell on one of my speakers
LOL LOL LOL
: OH YEAH u sed socks arent good for them??? at first i had put one in there then i noticed he was at the bottom of it and i thought he was stuck so i attempted to get him out and he wasnt happy when i took it out (good thing i did) then i put a wash cloth in instead he just kept trying to pull it out of the box so now its empty and i dont know if i should put anything in there i made him a "pouch" thingy out of a hand towel is that okay?
100% cotton is best and less likely to have strings pulled from it by his nails. That is what happened these other gliders had pulled some of the strings with their nails and then got them wrapped around their legs and instead of getting untangled they just wrapped them tighter and tighter trying to struggle out of them until they cut off the circulation and would lose a leg or in one instance it's life when it got the strings around it's throat. I like the use of the bandana. It is cotton, well mine are, and you can wear them a few days and then put them into the nest and they have your scent on them. They are easily washable and are not bad about loose strings.
: u sed to put something in his cage with my sent on it well what should i use?
Try a bandana.
: thanks again
: bye
You are welcome.
