Use some cotton gloves until you feel more confident - it doesn't take long.

My son had more guts than me and scooped them up and put them right back into there cage. Without mishap. My house isn't very glider proofed yet. I am not sure if I want them to roam freely or whether I would like them to stay with me. I will probable try the bathroom thing though, I think animals should be free... so the tamer they get the more freedom they will most likely get.
