: 1. Why is it that Briskeys must be weaned into and out of a diet? Why can't you just feed that instaed of your regular food?
I recommend the weaning method simply because gliders do not tolerate stress well at all and to me this would be the least stressful way to change your gliders diet. It is not that it must be this way,,,just that I believe it to be the best way.
: 2. What foods can be safely fed with Briskeys?
Any other foods that are safe for gliders can be fed with the accu-feed, I usually give mine a bit of critter cookie or a piece of fruit but only as treats.
: 3. Is Briskeys the only food they should have because of it being so very balanced?
This is a good one. The fact is that yes it should be fed as the primary diet. When you try to stick to a balanced diet don't you give yourself a treat now and then. If you buy a quality dog food for your dog don't you also give him the occasional treat. One other thing that I would like to say here is that when you offer your pet a balanced nutritious diet, and then you add other foods to that diet, well the more of the other foods that are consumed the further from that balance you get.
: 4. What about the Mold Factor?
Not sure of what you want here, I have never had a problem with mold.
: 5. What is the safest way to store this so that it continues to be healthy?
I store mine in a canister and refill it from ziplock bags of food that I have stored in a box in my closet. I usually order enough to last me about a month so storage is not a problem. I am told by Mr. Brisky himself that it can be stored for up to 6 months this way and if you think that you may need to store it longer than 6 months that it can be frozen then thawed as needed.
: 6. What health risks are involved if these precautions are not taken ?
I don't know but I can ask Mr. Brisky for that matter anyone can ask him anything about any of his products by calling the 800 number on their web site. He is a very socialable person and doesn't mind in the least answering questions.
: 7. Why does it have such a short shelf life ?
Is 6 months really a short shelf life? I don't know, again I can ask him and get back to you with the information.
: 8. Why is it that there are many Gliders that won't eat it at all ?
Who knows? I have a glider that won't touch apple, I have another that won't touch a cricket no way no how.
: 9. If they don't eat it why are we supposed to offer it alone , on the premise if they have nothing else to eat that they will eat the briskeys? I personally think that is forcing them to eat a certain food even if they don't like it.
I would not do this. I had one pair that for some reason they quit eating the accu-feed but still had good appettites, I ended up feeding them a fruit veggie mix with leadbeaters for two weeks before they began to eat their accu-feed.
