Thought it was about time I put myself out there. I've been accused of so many things because of my stupid post count. Surely, I must have "no life" and be a "fat slob that sits home alone with my cats". Yes, I've been called quite a few things here and just want to let the crap talkers know they're right about one thing. I have a cat. I also have a husband of over 18 years, almost 13 year old son, 16 1/2 year old daughter, a dog, 5 sugar gliders and my own successful Home Staging and Interior Redesign business since 2006. www.StageItRedesignIt.com
www.Facebook.com/StageItRedesignIt
I don't sit behind a computer all day, usually. As a matter of fact, most of the time, I'm posting while waiting...from my phone...which I do A LOT. My daughter is a competitive dancer and dance instructor/choreographer. I've been a dance mom for 12 years. (Not the show "Dance Moms" kind of dance mom, by the way) However, up until she recently got her driver's license, I was driving her back and forth to dance EVERY NIGHT OF THE WEEK and Saturdays. I had lots of time to wait for her to be done and post from there. We currently spend lots of weekends at dance conventions and competitions which gives me endless time to kill. I post from hotels and convention sites and dance halls and theaters and ballrooms and hallways and lobbies and dance studios. I'm also a soccer mom. I have lots of time waiting for my son's practice to be over or for games to start. I'm a volleyball wife. I have lots of time waiting for my husband's games to start and for him to pack up when he's finished. I also grocery shop and go to the bank and the gas station and post office and everywhere else normal people go. Imagine that. I wait in lines where I post to waste time if I so feel the urge. I wait for clients, who think their time is more valuable than mine, so I post to waste time until they show up. Some days, I have a lot of computer work to catch up on so I have GG up at the same time. Sue me. I like it. Damn me and my 8 post per day average. My husband owns his own business as well, which I help him out with quite often. That's almost all computer work for me so guess what site window I have open most of the time? You're so smart! :) Let's see...what else? I love black olives, Italian food, Coke in a bottle, footie pj's, traveling (a lot), custard desserts, cold weather, good music, the color green, animals, Christmas time, family dinners, aquariums, Alex O'Loughlin, Dave Matthews, the movie "August Rush" and the author, Robin Cook. I hate green peppers, BBQ, seafood, grape juice, diet soda, dressing up, clutter, heat, people that can't replace toilet paper, bad drivers, bad customer service, drinking, smoking, bad spelling/grammar, mud, crowds and more than anything, liars. I can wiggle my ears. My eyes water (OK, POUR) when I laugh. I'm 5'1". I suck at re-telling jokes or stories. I get giddy over Christmas lights. We live in our dream home we built with our hard earned money in 2008 and there's no where else I'd rather be. I love coming home. I hate leaving. I have 5 brothers and sisters. We range from 41 to 16 and go boy, girl, boy, girl, boy, girl. I'm 38 as of 5 days ago. I grew up with a drug addict, bipolar father that sometimes thought he was a prophet of God and we even lived in a cult community when I was 12. He passed away 10 years ago of a heart attack at age 52. I could make a living writing books about my childhood if I so desired. My mom is awesome but suffers horribly from Systemic Scleroderma. There's no known cause and no cure but she isn't one to feel sorry for herself and is a modern day Wonder Woman. No one has gone through more in their life or is more amazing...in my eyes, anyway. She's always been our mom and dad. I do have a college degree and worked in a medical lab for quite some time. I left in 2000 when my husband needed help at his office full time. I couldn't stand my boss and the timing was right for me to leave. I decided then I'd never have a boss again. We've worked very hard for what we have. When my daughter was a baby, we had food stamps, WIC and other state aid. I'm neither ashamed or proud of that. We did what was necessary and worked our butts off for all we have now. I don't regret a second of the hard times. It made us both work that much harder and that much more grateful for what we have. So, that's actually only the tip of the iceberg. As far as I'm concerned, those who deserve to know more, do. Those who don't care...never will. I'm perfectly content with that. I don't apologize for who I am. I'm the same online as I am in real life. People usually either love me or hate me. I'm picky with who I let close. I feel I'm am eerily good judge of other people's characters and am rarely wrong when I get a bad feeling about someone. I'm more of an observer than a talker. I AM ME. A REAL PERSON. P.S. I think we all look pretty normal too: Casey (3 years old):
Blacky (almost 17 years old):
I think it might actually be fun if more people made threads about themselves. Sorry mine turned out to be a novel. |

Way to go girl. You only speek the truth and what is right/good about our babies and that tends to hurt some, they need to just get over it. At one time or another we all have needed help or gave it. Fat slob, nope, just look at the third pic. If I'm out of line tell me. She is hot, just like my wife. I have a cat, three dogs, and four gliders and still have three adult grown kids at home. One daughter-in-law and now one grand child, three houses and two jobs. This all keeps me busy and I still find time to post. Not as much as kyro/Rita but a good amount at times. If I have any questions one of the people I would go to here is her. |

And I noticed the floors too, lol - they're gorgeous! We finally had wood floors put in a few years ago, and I swear the very next day the toilet was left unattended and decided to ruin the ENTIRE upstairs, and it had to be done all over again, along with a cleaning of the ductwork and water damage that made it downstairs. After having the floors done multiple times (the wood just twice), we're ridiculously careful with it now! And you and your family are absolutely beautiful. Sounds like you have a fuller life than most! :)
If it helps...I don't sleep much. LOL Forgot the insomnia in my bio but I've noticed that as a pattern in a lot of glider people. I think that's why lots of us love them so much. Wood floors are no joke when it comes to damage. Stupid toilets! LOL Thank you for all the kind compliments. :) |

I wonder, what is the facebook post count for the people knocking kyro's GG post count? I love this idea of showing that you can have a life and still devote a lot of time to your sugar gliders. At least kyro's time online is productive! Yay for kyro and all the frequent posters, without whom I would be a terrible glider mother. Is there a way a "bio" section could be added somewhere other than our profiles, so when posters come along that say we're lifeless we can link to it? I'd love to hear everyone's stories, especially the frequent posters. Maybe I'll even learn names like you've all got down. |

dpatters28 Posted - Nov 29 2011 : 06:48:46 PM
Okay, here is a little bit about me. I'm 30-years-old and was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH, where I still live. I am not a fan of Cincinnati and would love to move somewhere more exciting (I fell madly in love with Boston when I visited there a decade ago), but money hinders me. I work part-time as a sales associate at Macy's in the fragrance department. I may not be changing the world or saving lives, but I'll be damned if I don't you smell great! This is my second foray into retail. When I was 16 I worked at K-Mart for 2 months. I was a naive kid at the time and, as one manager put it, I was more interesting in "standing around looking pretty" than I was in actually working. I lost my job after the manager accused me of stealing $200 from the register. I found out later that all the people I was hired with were fired in similar fashions the same time I was let go. When I was 18 my dad got me an internship with the Clerk's Office and thus began a decade-long career with Hamilton County. I started in Domestic Relations (divorce court) when I turned 21 as a file clerk. I was hailed me as a Godsend by my boss. I quickly moved up the ranks until, a week after turning 28, I respectfully resigned. My new boss equated me to a caged monkey, which was the straw that broke the camel's back. I've been at Macy's for three years and it's decent work, but I'm not a huge fan of the general public so it gets under my skin a lot. Especially around the holidays. I often joke that Macy's murdered my Christmas spirit. I'm openly gay, but I don't let that define me. I've only had a handful of relationships, and I always seem to pick the biggest losers out there. I came out of the closet when I was 23 and had my first boyfriend when I was 24. It lasted less than a month and ended because my beloved met a trucker at a gay bar and went off to California with him. My second relationship lasted 6 months. However there was a big age difference (he was 20 and I was 28), and he was just way to immature for me. Plus he had no job, no car, no ambition... and I wound up going from $18,000 in the bank to -$500. He also had a habit of humiliating and embarrassing me at every opportunity he got. I dumped him unceremoniously over Facebook and haven't dated anyone since. Sometimes I think I'm ready, but most of the time I'm quite happy being single. I did have one girlfriend in high school. We went to homecoming and senior prom together and dated for over a year. I kissed her on the lips once. I had lunch with her over the summer and found out she spent time in her early 20's in a mental institution. Do I pick winners or what??? My dad worked for the Clerk of Courts for 36 years, and when he retired last year he was 4th in command (and the office consists of over 200 people). He now works part-time at Sears. My mom was a homemaker as I was growing up and now works part-time in the Clerk's Office herself (she worked there in the 70s, which is how my parents originally met). They are still married and have been for 32 years. I have one brother who is 8 years younger than me. There was never much sibling rivalry and, in fact, he extended my childhood well beyond what it should have been. I like to think we're pretty close now. I do not like children, but I adore my little nephew, Carson. He's not actually my nephew. He's my cousin Rachel's son, but Rachel is the closest thing I've ever had to a sister - and she wants Carson to think of me as "Uncle" Doug, so I call him my nephew just the same. He's a wild child, but for some reason he behaves for me and always gives me a big hug and lots of kisses when he sees me. I have a golden retriever named Rocky and two sugar gliders name Chester and Dixie. I am a huge animal lover and two years ago my mom got me a free pass to the zoo for Christmas. Since I was only working at Macy's part-time, I had a lot of free time so I went several times a month. I was introduced to sugar gliders during these visits. I would force myself into the nocturnal house to confront my biggest fear - BATS - and wound up falling in love with suggies. I found out they could be pets, found this site and the rest is history. I am for all intents and purposes an artist. Growing up I wanted to be an artist professionally. Then I had a teacher in 7th grade who told me I was only average and would never be anything but. I continued taking art through high school - even taking weekend classes - and all my other teachers told me how fantastic and talented I was, but I never forgot what that teacher in 7th grade told me and art has been a hobby ever since. I still love to draw and find it can be very therapeutic. My favorite animals are giraffes. My favorite color is blue. My favorite number is 2. My least favorite number is 3. My all-time favorite show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I loved anything 80's (except the fashion). I have a huge heart and will do anything for anyone. I prefer to give gifts than receive them. I hate how commercialized Christmas has become, but I still love the togetherness it brings. Did I mention I like giraffes? Not sure anyone knew that. That's all I can think of for now. Geez Kylah, looks like we both wrote novels.

Honestly i think you are a great person. You seem so successful, organized, and have a great family. And i can tell you really do A LOT for your family, running around coo-coo everyday sounds tiring on top of owning a business. I can only hope that i can turn out to be a woman like you when im older (as corny as that sounds)...but its true :) |
