That's a cool idea! I would imagine you could have each on it's own stand next to each other and make a secure tunnel between two of the side doors. I'm not sure who did it, but I'd like to know how they did it as well!

My husband did it with two cages we have, not excel. But he took one side off each cage, put them together and used wire ties to hold them together. It works great. The stands for these cages don't have rounded sides that come up, they are flat so the cages and stands just fit together flush. If your stands have sides on them you may be able to put the cages together like this but not use the stands. Hope this helps.

With the excel cages you have to put it together back to back....this way you can still use the stands.

Yesterday after my last post, my husband and I put the two cages together back to back and tied them with plastic ties, but since the backs have been removed it will not sit on the stand, because it’s a few inches short since the backs are not there anymore. Their has to be more to it for it to fit properly on the stand with out falling downwards into the stand. I could put a piece of ply wood down on the stand but then it would bend the latches that hold the cage in place. I mean I could remove the bars and have it sit low into the stand but then I worry about my cats & dogs harassing Peitry and Hailey. I really wanted to give them a huge cage. I would make a tunnel from door to door but I don’t think that would be a good idea. I can just see my cats now, jumping on the tunnels, eek!!! EH we gave it a shot and it didn’t work out, so I’ll just return the extra cage we bought and wait till we have enough money to buy a larger cage.

Here is the post from GC where the two Excel cages were put together:

It appears they do have both cages sitting on the stands. You might want to contact Melissa to see how they made it fit.

Unfortunately, Excel will only allow returns on their cages if the boxes are unopened. When I ordered mine, I asked if I could return it if it didnt work out, which is how I know his answer.

Last time I asked Terry about it, he was out. He manufactures them in China and brings over 40ft cartons of them along with other various cages that he sells. I just emailed so I'll let you know what he says.

So the word is that Terry is going to China this week to complete the build of standard cages plus a few new designs. We should see Exel Tower cage listings again by this time next month and we can look forward to some new designs in the future that may be even better for our arboreal furries.
