Hi,

He might be having trust issues with you. Or he is really hungry but does not know any other way to express things.
Try doing some bonding pouch time and some positive reinforcements such as soft talking while he is in the bonding pouch and get him more used to your personal scent. Also has anything changed in the past few months such as a different smell like hand soap, body wash, or laundry soap? Those changes could also affect his attitude.
Try different treats as well to see what his reaction is with each one. He might be more aggressive to some but more gentle with others.

some call it 'crabbing', but the sound is his growling - meaning he is uncomfortable with you / what you're doing. Your scent is strange. I bought some fleece gloves to use when handling my three suggies when I first got them ~ biting, growling, etc. The gloves picked up their scent and mine, and I'd place one in their nest when not using them so they would accept my scent 'cause it also had theirs! After awhile the biting quit (biting the gloves didn't induce any reaction, so they gave up on it) and the growling went away (unless I woke them) as they accepted my scent.

Patience
