Hey guys. I'm just wondering what kind of "toys" you guys use for your gliders. Is there anything I can pic up at walmart or anything? I'm not the kind of person that orders this random stuff online. I just want to make sure my gliders aren't bored!

The dollar stores have lots of toys. Just be sure the ones you get are safe for young children. They love playing with feathers. ccAt toys but make sure they do not contain catnip. I think bird toys sould be okay too. Anything noisy. You can try Goodwill and look for fisher price houses and stuff. I know a few members have those. Maybe they can repost their pictures.

Lisa is right, Goodwill and yard sales are excellent placed to find cheap toys for your gliders.

I have Fisher Price toys in my glider cage. So far I've gotten a castle (which my gliders love to hide inside) and Noah's Arc that comes with a wide variety of little animals my gliders like to play with. Sometimes I'll make a hippo or elephant walk around and my gliders delight in chasing it and attacking it.

Barrel of monkeys is also awesome!! Hang them from the bars of the cage and watch our glider knock them down.

And some have used staws and woven them through the bars and let the gliders work on that. Thats cheap/free and I'm sure will drive 'em crazy.

Some have said to take the rings that come on the top of bottles, like a milk jug, cut them in one spot so they can't get caught in them, and use them as a substitute for monkeys in a barrel. I give them both, and they play with both, but they prefer the rings over the monkeys! I usually find at least one in their pouch in the morning. :)

You can tie fleece strips to the chain and make a whole new toy with it. Expect that some gliders will untie the fleece and this is okay as the toy then becomes interactive, but know that you'll have to retie the fleece. LOL

The dollar store is awesome if you think creatively! The one in my area has an entire aisle dedicated to fake flowers and vines... My gliders are obsessed with them! (and poor Icarus has a newly girlified cage!) 6 ft of finery for a dollar! Also, cardboard boxes, tissue boxes, straws (which can be threaded through bars or folded into triangles) and toilet paper rolls are all popular with my gliders

I would not use cardboard boxes and toilet paper rools due to the glue that holds them together. Gliders chew and will eventually get to that glue. Just not safe for them.

I have heard people say that and many others say they are fine. Please don't take this as me trying to start anything because I'm just curious, but has there ever been a situation where it has actually caused harm? I know it's glue, but they do make non toxic glue and I would imagine the type used for food containers and tissues that touch people's faces wouldn't be anything incredibly harmful. But this is pure guessing, so if anybody can cite an example of it hurting a glider I would be very interested.

And I don't use them in their cages, but occasionally allow them to have a poptart or tissue box at bathroom time, which probably isn't enough to eat too much anyway but I was wondering :)

Boxes that food comes in does not touch our food. Our food is usually in sealed plastic bags inside the boxes. Boxes that touch food would more than likely be ok.

My gliders love to play with boxes and I have been known to give them kleenex boxes to play in for a night then remove them in them in the morning.

I also purchase plastic chains from bird stores. They are inexpensive, last forever and can become an interactive toy. My gliders love it when I hang tons of monkeys in a barrel from the chains.

Yard sales, thrift stores, etc are great places to find well made toddler toys for next to nothing. My gliders LOVE toddler toys that make noise. When I put a battery operated toy (make certain the battery is on the bottom of the toy) I hear them playing on it ALLLLLLLLLLL night!! LOL

there are some pictures of toys you can use to get some ideas. if your able to find any ark like toy they can crawl in you should try it. my boys love theirs. straws and feathers are still their favorite toys to play with.
