I have had a problem with my suger gliders, I don't know what to do
It's been 5 months since I bought my two sugar gliders, one male and one female.
At the first time I bought them, they were small, baby sugar glider



they were friendly, I put them in my hand and they just stay, didn't moving anywhere
Then, I rarely play with them, I touched them lesser
And five months later, I want to play with them so I put them in my hand anymore, but they are not stay in my hand and they are always moving, It's too difficult to catch them
Now I worry about that, I want my sugar gliders frendly with me
How to make they more frendly ?
Anyone knows please help me! </font id="blue">

From the pic, it seems like the cage is small, they need a bigger one. Also gliders are very needy animals and need lots of attention which is a good thing you have two otherwise one would have felt lonely...point is they are known tu suffer from deppression you need to spend more time with them! Also in my research I've learned all the drawback from breeding them I advice you research to make sure you will be able to handel it. At the same time if you berly had time for your gliders I don't think it would be wise to bring joeys, I mean what if they reject the joey???? You will have to step up and be it's parents.

Anywho like I said spend time with them that will make them friendly, they aren't like dogs in which they will still forgive the owner easily if they get neglected. And they mother should be about one year old to increase the chances of healthy joeys and decrease the chances of rejection.

1st. your cage is horribly small... too small for one .. let alone TWO suggies.

2nd your asking about breeding the suggies... unfortunately it doesnt look like you can take care of what you have now. fail.

3rd all the information you need is an easy search away, obviously use our best judgement.

take care or can't take care ? I just have the problem that my sugar gliders are not friendly with me, because I didn't spend much time for them, but I didn't know that, now I understand, and that is my problem, it's not about I can take care it or not
You thought I didn't find the information about sugar glider ?
In Viet Nam sugar glider is not popular, so the information about them is not much and diverse.
Finally I search google and find out this website, the website just about sugar glider and have a lot information about them, but I hardly read any information by English so I posted this topic to find the answer more easier and more quickly</font id="blue">

when I bough them at the shop, I bought the cage too, and seem they just had that size of the cage. I don't know where can I find the bigger, because in Viet Nam sugar glider is not popular much! When I bought that cage it was hard to bring it home, but I'll try

Females should be closer to a year old before they ever have joeys. Do you have a vet that can neuter? Dads will mate with daughters and sons with moms. If they are stressed in their situation or don't have proper diet, they may never breed. They really, really need a larger cage or at least play time out of that cage in a glider safe area as much as possible.

Umm no proble but make sure you bond with them, and would concider neuter also for the fact that it will make bonding difficult or so I believe. You won't be able to play with her cause you'll run the risk of dettaching the joey :/

But like kyro said a glider safe place for play time will help with bonding. Well good luck with them :)I know its a hard work but worth it. I also believe giving them a nice big cage, good diet and lots of play time would help bond with them better.

Yeah, spend lots of time with your suggies. Maybe you can make a bigger cage? Do they not sale big bird cages in Vietnam?

http://www.sugarglider.com/gliderpedia/index.asp?Projects you should try building your own cage using pvc and pvc mesh. if you cant do this then just use the internet to find a big cage. sugar gliders are not common in the US like cats and dogs so we either make everything ourselves (food/diet,cage sets,toys) just use the search bar at the top of the site.

http://www.suzsugargliders.com/ best source of info on how to raise joeys everything you need to know is there. it is not an easy thing and you dont know if your gliders are related. there is a good chance they could be rejected and you will have to feed them like every 2 hours. you may not be able to save the joeys and wake up one morning and find them on the bottom of the cage. the female can also get injured during matting and any males will have to get fixed.
the behavior your describing is normal for a glider they are little balls of energy. they love to run,jump,play and explore. there is nothing bad about that its fun to watch them just get a tent or glider proof a room where they can safely play. a pet that just sits in your hands is boring. find/make them some toys to play with and hand feed them some food and talk to them. they will come check up on you every now and then while they play or use you as a tree.
