Hi everyone, I'm Heidi.

I am a 20 year old energetic, social butterfly. I am the oldest of two children. I was born and raised in Redding, California but for now I am calling Clarksville, Tennessee my home.

My husbands job as an Army infantry man has brought us here and will keep us here until 2014. We met in high school and got married on December 23rd, 2009. When we were dating we were inseparable but after he signed his life away we have spent alot of time apart.

I guess I should probably back track a bit. In November of 2009 my husband left for basic training. He got to come home for two weeks in December where we were married at the court house. We had planned to wait a few years but those plans flew out the window as soon as he was gone. We missed each other too much and there was no way we were spending two years apart! He finished his basic training at the end of March 2010 and a week after he got to Fort Campbell he called me after work sobbing. They were sending him to Afghanistan and there was no point in me moving to Tennessee yet. We stopped looking for houses, cried our faces out and got our game faces on to tackle the next year.

It was hard. Harder than I ever imagined my first year of marriage ever being. We were supposed to be in out honeymoon phase and it felt like all the Army wanted to do was play keep away! Finally in April of this year he returned and we've gotten all that time together since. I must admit its strange how different we are from than till now and I am stunned that we managed to keep it together for so long.

In July of this year my husband went to the mall with a few of his buddies. He called me and asked if I wanted a couple of cute rats. "Uhm what?!" I couldnt believe MY husband was asking if I wanted rodents. This was coming from a man who would only consider big dogs as pets!

I went to the mall later that day and found out he meant sugar gliders. And he was right, they were the cutest things ever! We needed them. We bought them from a company called pocket pets (-_-) that told us how easy they were. Well a wake up call and quite a few vet bills later we are so happy that we bought them.

I don't know what else to say about myself other than currently I am in college to do something involving psycology. All I want to do with my life is help people. I grew up with a mom that has fetal alcohol syndrome and after seeing what she has had to go through I want to help people like her in any way I can. I love my family and friends. I am a very kind person and will do almost anything for anyone. I have a hard time saying no lol.

Also without corrective vision I am legally blind. My perscription glasses are probably at least an inch thick. You wouldnt know though because I wear contacts with half my perscription under normal looking glasses. I got tired of being made fun of in school so this was a great alternative. I'll post a pic so you all can see just how unnoticeable it is.

Thats all I cant think of right now.

I did have laser vision correction years ago, but I was also legally blind before that. I got my first "coke bottles" at 7 years old. NO FUN. I still remember! I do have to say your glasses look freaking adorable on you though!

Hey Heidi... I know exactly what you & your hubby went thru...same thing here. Got married in Jan.89, hubby went off to basic 3 days later,...well basic & AIT so he was gone for 4 months. We got shipped off to Ft.Campbell after basic...he was home for about a yr., but of course always gone for those 30 day trips into the field! Then he was gone for a year to Saudi for Desert Shield/Desert Storm, came home and turned around and was sent to Korea!

And I had to chuckle at your account of aquiring your babies! ME TOO!!! July 17th at Governors Square Mall!!! They were my birthday present from my hubby. Small World!

Hey, what vet do you take your babies to????

Thank you kyro :)

And Jazz that's the exact same day I got them. I originally had two boys but they gave me one that died :( poor baby. I take mine to the animal clinic of north Clarksville. Theyre down by the dunkin donuts before gate 1. Dr smith is amazing.

Also what made you stay here? The lack of sidewalks in this town is frustrating!!! Lol

I may have to try Dr. Smith. I like my vet,...she's sweet and willing to learn but I'm not sure how knowledgable she is. So far that's not a problem but if anything more complicated arises other than a checkup I'm not sure how well she'd be at handling it.

And we ended up getting planted here cuz after the hubby got out of the military he walked into a construction job on post...re-doing the airfield & hangars, then each job that came up just happened to be around here. He's from WI., both of our families are now their but WI. is not friendly to the construction industry in the winter months!!!

And yeah, for many years this town revolved around the military so they didn't really think it thru when laying it out. I'm sure you've seen the businesses that close down when the guys are deployed. They are FINALLY realizing it and attempting to make improvements but it's a slow go. It'll be nice when they get the marina done! I wondered for years why we lived near the river but didn't have a marina...seemed kinda stupid but they are finally doing it but of course now the economy is messing with it so who knows...

Edited to add.... I almost forgot! Not sure if you've heard of BOURBON...they call her the glider whisperer. She's apparently very wise and very sweet and willing to help anyone with a glider problem...she sent me a PM on GC a few weeks back asking to meet me,...she's apparently here in Clarksville also! That blew my mind! We haven't been able to line schedules up yet but I'm very interested in meeting her. Thought you might find that interesting. (she also uses Dr. Smith )
