So I didnt really want to take up a huge amount of space with making a glider kitchen, so this is what I came up with a kitchen that is connected through one of the old food doors.

8" piece of NEW RV sewer hose "$6.97 for 10 feet"
2 Glass food dishes (actually NEW glass ashtrays)$.97 each
1 - 20qt locking lid container $4.76
Not cleaning carpet every day "PRICELESS"

27" X 14" X 5' is the cage for sleeping and eating in a 10' X 10' room that they get free range of most of the time since the cage is in the room and the top door is generally open.

There is a door where their food dish use to sit, so I opened the door pulled it down on the ribbing of the hose and tied it shut, so the door or the pipe would not move. As for the hose going into the kitchen the hole is just big enough that the pipe acted like a screw so it is vary tight.

Love it! Maybe I need to try that with my boys. It might keep the cage cleaner.

That cage looks very small - where on earth did you find one so tall and at the same time so slender?
It'd be nice to have 'separate' hooked together cages. With say 3 of those side by side and a tunnel between them, one could have an enclosure around the bottom/side portion to keep crickets in and used for a dinning room. Ooooo... and one for a HUGE ball pit... and one for... and ... and ...

While this looked like some kind of crime scene..This was (another)attempt to get them to eat purreed zuchini/little bit of broccoli..I put some diced mixed vegs in it..Apparently they were trying to shake the "green stuff" off?..or maybe they were just enjoying a food fight? HAHA!!

That is super scary! I thought maybe you had mealies at the cage door and they took off for them. Mine will kill their next of kin to get at some mealies. it's like they turn into little werewolves or something.

It is a good idea! How do you keep the "tunnel" closed off when you remove the kitchen to clean it?

Mom found a habit trail - a 2 story job I haven't seen yet. I'm hoping the tubes are nice and big - big enough for fat boy to go through. If so, I'll make one story cricket treat time and the other story a huge ball pit to hide mealies or treats in.

My Rickety has a habitrail type of toy in his cage and he LOVES it. It's a snap together kind of thing my daughter made an inclosed maze out of and he forages for his mealies and yogies in. He looks like a pipe cleaner in a straw but has no trouble getting his big butt through it. LOL
