Product #1: Mopani tree
http://www.petco.com/product/117947/Zoo-Med-Mopani-BirdTree.aspx?CoreCat=OnSiteSearch

Saw this at my local petco in the bird section. It is actually quite large (20inches in height) and with all the branches it looks like it would be great fun for a glider to climb on. Is the wood safe?

Product#2 : Dry bath for gliders
http://www.sugar-gliders.com/glider-shampoo.htm

I was at petco (the same day) and saw dry shampoo for ferrets/guinea pigs/etc. I was thinking to myself "could this product be used on gliders?" but since the label did not specify, i put it down. Later i saw this product on the suncoast page. Does anyone know if this product works and how well gliders take to it? I would never bathe my glider, but if he got stinky (by his own fault, not a diet issue or anything else) it might be nice to have something to sprinkle on him and make him smell good as new

Personally I wouldn't bother with either of them. I'm not keen on the idea of glider baths. Gliders do a very good job of grooming themselves ... some too much! The gliders themselves don't have an odour .... it's their pee/poop that can smell. So I'm not sure what the benefits of glider shampoo would be.

As for the 1st item. Gliders do love branches, but that is because they like to strip the bark. So i'm not sure the wood is safe. It may well be, but I wouldn't pay $40 for something that they will tear up pretty quickly lol. I'd rather get free ones and just give them a scrub so that they're safe :) But that's just me lol. If someone can clarify that mahogany wood is safe, and you don't mind paying that price then by all means buy it. As I said, gliders do enjoy stripping bark (or at least mine do) and branches are a good place to hide acacia gum or other treats x

Yes, the first is safe... If you notice in the first cage, level with the kitchen strapped to the back of the cage I have one. I also have the half logs from PetSmart. I drill holes in them, not going all the way thru, and I fill it with Agave Nectar or Pure Maple Syrup a few nights a week. Check out the lizard section...they have all those ceramic cave rock things....Good hiding places!

As Helen said, gliders DO NOT need to be bathed so I wouldn't use anything on them. They groom themselves & I personally would be afraid it would make them sick.
