Sugar gliders will use their patagium spread wide like a wing in order to glide long distances. This allows them to get around fast, escape predators and also cover a large amount of habitat in search of food.

It is pretty hard to get good footage of them gliding but here are a few shots in slow motion. Take notice of how the tail is used along with the stretching of the limbs and body in order to change orientation and basically steer.
