 My Experiences :D

I thought it would be fun to post something on here... So here goes. I'm just going to talk about my experiences with my Sugar Baby.

About a year ago (March 2009), my best friend asked if I wanted a sugar glider. I had no idea what she was talking about. I went and met him one day after school. He was very sweet but even without knowing anything about the animal, I knew something was wrong. He was fed a regular diet of hot dogs, white bread, cornbread, hard candy, and walnuts. He lived in a really tiny parakeet cage and was only taken out once a week or so. I told her I would take him.

That night I took him home. I sat up until the wee hours of the morning reading about gliders. The next day I went to the store and got some baby food, fresh fruits, and crickets. I couldn't afford to get a larger cage immediately so I decided to let him have free roam of my room for several hours a night. It actually got to the point that he would just stay out all night it didn't bother me one bit. He seemed to really love it. I would actually find him curled up sleeping soundly under my pillow pretty often. My dad and I got a huge dead branch and put it in one corner of my room and I hung his pouch from it. I thought it was so cute. Soon after, I was able to buy a bigger cage. I'd like to think he bonded to me pretty quickly. He spends a lot of time either in my bra or pocket :)

It wasn't until recently-- about a month or so ago-- that I got him on a "recommended diet". I'd always fed him various fruits and veggies and a few crickets. Then I realized, for whatever reason, that I needed to change that. I put him on the Priscilla Price diet. He really seems to love it. I like it too because it's fairly cheap, easy, and I like the variety.

After having him for about three or four months, I began trying to find a buddy. I lived in Kansas at the time and just moved to Tennessee about 6 months ago for college. I couldn't find anything in my price range there, nor was there anything that was acceptable (i.e. unnutered male, too old, etc.) When I moved to Tennessee I started my search again. Thankfully, I just recently found a little girl who is looking for a new home. I think she will be a perfect match. I cannot wait to go get her Saturday afternoon!!! I will post updates on the two of them in the coming weeks! :)
