I read something online about taking egg shells and baking them in the oven and then putting them in a blender to blend into a powder to use to sprinkle on my girls food for a calcium supplement. Has anyone ever done this or think its a good idea?

RaverBob No problem at all. Diet is ofter the number one question/problem. I personally feed BML and mine love the variety, I mix up what kind of baby food I use between chicken and turkey. To balance it out with veggies and fruit, rule of thumb is 1 tbs bml mix, 1 tbs veg (I buy the mix veg from the grocery store with no lima beans, so carrots, peas, beans and corn) and 1 tbs of fruit like apple, pear. So basically 1 tbs of each per glider. :) Good luck.

CarleyTupp Sinse your advice I went and got everything for the BML diet and took the pellets out lastnight! They are getting their new food tonight. Thank you SO much for telling me! Or I wouldn't have known how bad pellets were for them

RaverBob Even so. Look into the diet section in the gliderpedia. An improper diet can lead to numerous health issues over time.

CarleyTupp Even though I give them different fruits and vegetables every night?

RaverBob Pellets are not a balanced diet. They should be on something like BML or HPW. In general, pellets are a no-no and should be fed as a snack only.

CarleyTupp The pellet food is called Vita exotics, for sugar gliders. And they get fruits and vegetables every night and I have a chart that I use to balance the amount of calcium/ phosphorus in the fruits and vegetables.

RaverBob What are you feeding her. Most approved diets are balanced with sufficient calcium:phos ratio, too much can actually harm them
