Oh. And to check to see if she is dehydrated, gently pull on the skin on the back of her neck. Let go and if it goes back down quickly she's fine. If the skin stays in a tent shape or goes back down slowly she may be dehydrated. If she is dehydrated follow this advice from fellow member Snusie "Get some unflavored Pedialyte (the flavors have artificial sweeteners) and give it to him in a small needle-less syringe. If you don't have one of those, an eyedropper will work." After doing this if she doesn't seem better, she needs to get to the vet ASAP to get a fluid iv. Gliders can take a turn for the worse very quickly, so if you suspect something is wrong, a vet visit is the usual answer.

Hi! Congratulations on your new glider. 1) Feeding an apple is not very healthy for your glider. Gliders need a diet that is a 2 calcium:1 phosphorus ratio. The easiest and best way to achieve this is to get your glider on one of the recognized diets. There are quite a few diets to choose from. Some are VERY strict as to what you feed your glider [such as BML]. They list out everything and you must follow it exactly. Others are strict when it comes to the main diet, but leave the fruits and veggies up to you [such as the HPW diet]. You still have to have a 2:1 ratio for fruits and veggies though, and since most of us don't understand it so well there are even fruit cocktail and veggie relish recipes too! Here's a list of most of the recognized diets: http://www.sweet-sugar-gliders.com/sugar-glider-diet-recipes.html Here's a list of a few more recognized diets, and many of the fruit and veggie recipes: http://www.sugarglider.com/glidergossip/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=26197 2) I wouldn't put food in her pouch, gliders get most of their water from their food, so it doesn't look like they're drinking very much water from the water bottle. Also, if you get her on a recognized diet like stated in number 1, that should help tremendously. 3) Here are the most useful bonding tips that I was able to put together. http://www.sugarglider.com/glidergossip/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=25207 Okay, now that your questions are answered, there are a few more things you need to know. First, it is very important that you get another glider. VERY IMPORTANT. Gliders are very social and without a cagemate they can get depressed. Depression may lead to self mutilation which may lead to death. When you get another glider it is very important to follow quarantine. Quarantine is keeping the gliders in separate cages for 30 days. The reason for this is the new glider may have parasites. Whenever you get a new glider it should go to the vet for a general exam and a fecal. The fecals will tell you whether your glider has parasites. So you should take Blair to the vet as well, just to rule sickness out. Also, where did you get Blair? From a company? If so what is the name of the company? There is a very large glider company that sells gliders at a very young age. They usually tell you to feed pellets [a dry food which is a BIG no-no]. Gliders are not meant to chew and swallow dry food. It can cause lump jaw and intestinal blockage which can lead to death. There are a few other reasons that pellets are bad, but that's the main one. The same company also usually sells you a heat rock. If you got one of these, throw it out! Heat rocks can electrocute [glider chewing through cord] or burn your glider. Your glider should sleep in a fleece pouch with little fleece blankets to keep warm. The biggest source of warmth for your glider? The body heat of another glider. Your cage should be at least 3 feet high, 2 feet wide and 1 foot deep. This is the absolute SMALLEST it should be, but the bigger the better and taller is best. There is no such thing as a cage being too big. Also, does Blair have a wheel? A wheel is very important as this is how gliders get most of their exercise. HOWEVER, you cannot buy a glider approved wheel in a pet store. The Wodent wheel is the cheapest of glider safe wheels and is great. You can even buy [or make] trim tracks for it so you don't have to clip your gliders nails. The Stealth wheel is the best of the glider safe wheels [most say anyway] and is a bit more expensive. There is also the custom cruiser, but the wodent and stealth are the most common. Google 'wodent wheel' or 'stealth wheel' and it will take you to the sites to purchase them. Please use the Gliderpedia [located at the top of this page] to research more about sugar gliders. Also, most people don't look at journals, so you will get more help faster if you post your question on the threads [just click 'glider gossip' at the top of this page, then sugar gliders, then at the topish right above the page numbers you will see 'new topic'. click that to post your question]. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions and keep in mind that some people on this site are blunt and very passionate about gliders, so please don't take offense to them. =]

if she has very Juicy fruits and she eats them, then yes, in my opinion she should be fine because she is getting something to drink.Just keep watch, ur glider is in a new place and has to get on her on Schedule. Bonding tips- Just be patient, get some mealworms, yogurt or Yogies, and take the hole pouch out of the cage, put ur hand closed tightly so while u take her to the bathroom she doesnt get away, once u get to ur Glider Proofed bathroom, let her out! Sit down an let her use u as a tree, she will pee, poo an watever else she wants to do to u! Lol. Give her treats, and as she eats them slowly an gently rub her..
