I im a first timer too. I just got a male and a female about a week ago. My female was never hesitant to play but she nips very often. Her brother has not quite settled down yet. But anyways get the pouch A.S.A.P. and spend time with it if it bites you jjust try to ignore it

Get the pouch now. Cary it around so it smells like you.Hang it in the cage for Buttercup to sleep in. You can cary Buttercup around in the pouch while shes asleep. She will get used to the way you smell and the sound of yous voice. She will love ya. Good luck

I'm a recent owner as well, had Dante about 3 weeks or so. He is about 6 months old and was neglected by whoever owned him prior to me. Progress will be slow. The first few days I let him be, then I just sat next to the cage and talked to him leaving my hands out so he would get used to them. Started to not leave food out so that when he woke up I could hand feed him through the cage. honey works wonders for this just make sure to remove your fingers from him before the honey is gone or they will bite. I was reading in the wild they bite when sap runs out on a tree they are eating from so its just natural for them. Now I am at the point where I can leave the cage open when I feed him and can pet him when he is not cranky. I've gotten bit a few times only once really hard. Don't yell or back down just blow in their face and they back off themselves. Tent time does wonders he will crawl on me but doesnt seem to really interact with me yet. I feel as if im just a small tree for him to climb on. But ive been taking small steps and they seem to be working.
