Subject: Curious phone call... Posted by Elwin Bullard on March 12, 1999 at 13:31:52: I placed an ad in a local newspaper since we have babies to move. I inclided htat we are USDA licensed in hte ad. I got several calls the first day but one stuck out in my mind. The person claimed to be wanting to buy gliders and asked about them. I started my standard sales pitch. Its designed to turn-off looky-loos. I only want serious buyers coming over to look. Anyway the last caller that day sounded familiar. I spoke to a large scale breeder in my area about a year ago and I would swear that it was the same person on the phone. Among other things he claims to have spoken to the USDA vet for our area and tried to tell me that I did not need a license since I only do private sales. My policy is better safe than sorry. One sale pays for the license so I will stay legal but it bohters me that this person is trying to put out wrong info just to keep the competition down. Always check with the proper authorities and do what they say.
