: Gotta question. One thing that stuck out in my mind most of all in reading about gliders is that they can die from neglect, that you must spend at least 2 hours a day with them.

Yes, time is definitely a concern, especially with a single glider, and you are right about taht death due to neglect thing.

: Our routine around here is that around 10-10:30 at night I get her up and bring her into computer room with me. I spend up until midnight or later playing around on internet while she runs around the room. She climbs all over me some of the time, nibbling on my ears, crawling in and out of my clothes, etc., but some nights she doesn't even come near me.

Sounds to me like you've got some good quality PLAY time goin' on

:Is this a good thing? Yes it is

:Is this bonding? Yes and No-- She is getting familiar with you, but it's not the same kind of quality bondtime you get when you can carry the pouch/animal with you while it's sleeping

:Is this playing?? -- Oh yes mame

:I've read where other gliders actually "play" with toys with their owners, Elvira doesn't seem interested in toys. She loves to be "on" me and chew my hair, and clothes, and face, etc. but as far as playing like a cat - not happening.

Like cats and children, each has its own personality, needs, likes and dislikes. All four of mine loathe cat toys, they would much rather play with me, a simple straw, of a piece of plastic (although, not for very long), they just like being out and about.

: She is healthy and and eats good. She seems fine.
You may be assured that she is fine

:Am I spending enough time with her?

Sufficient playtime yes, but perhaps not enough quality bonding time. You may want to try getting out the pouch earlier in the evening (if possible) and handle her while she's sleepy/ing

:Sometimes I feel guilty when I read posts from people who carry theirs around with them all day. That is not at all possible with me as I work in a medical clinic.

Dont feel guilty, some of us, like you (me included) dont have that luxury. I provide as much care for my four gliders and three dogs as I would for children, and that is all anyone (including them) can ask or expect of me

: I was thinking of getting a second glider, but not really sure ...... HELP???

That isn't a bad idea. I have often expressed my feelings about single gliders ~vs~ pairs -- I sincerely feel gliders should be kept in pairs. It is MUCH easier on the owners where attention and time are concerned. They keep each other company.

For the most part it really isnt any harder (or much more costly) to care for two, than it is for one. Further, it will give you peace of mind to know Elvira has a playmate and friend available anytime you are not. Another plus to two animals like these furballs is that you'll get attention in STEREO

I hope this helped -- a little
