: If I were you I would just try to find a cage that does have the coating. You will have a very difficult time coating the cage yourself, and getting an even coat is a real headache. It really isn't worth it, not even to save a few dollars. If there is any kind of PetSmart or Petco or large chain pet store around you, they will have good coated cages. Big ones too. It is very worth spending a little extra $$ for a quality cage. Your itty-bitty glider will thank you for it:)
