Vienna,

I am not fully versed in breeding of gliders, and I too am in the process of having my first 2 sets of twins. Here is my understanding....
In the wild, gliders usually will have one pair of joeys in the spring. In captivity they can have two to three pairs. Sometimes, but rarely they may have more. It seems that in captivity a glider will naturally rest in the breeding process. It may be as short as a few months to a year. Yes gliders do love to mate, but there are times where it does not take. I have witnessed mine starting the mating process over a three day period of time. The first two with the fighting and the last 24 hours of mating. It is something you will have to gather facts on to see if you want to seperate them for a period of time or not. At this point, I am for letting them do their thing natually.

Hope this helps....

: Our male glider is constantly attempting to mate with the female-----sometimes she gets 'crabby' and shoos him away, but more often than not---I see them copulating.....
: She just had one joey oop at the end of March, he's on solid food---we think she sped up the weaning process b'cos their may be another joey in her pouch. We have no intention of neutering, or moving the male to another cage---after all they are social creatures, and I don't think it would be fair to remove him from his family... But from what I have read they say the maximum amount of 'pairings' per year-----should be limited to between 2&3----Is this correct?
: Wouldn't having joeys too often, one after another shorten her life span......Wouldn't it tax her body and stress her out too much.....Any information regarding this question would be helpful....Thanking you in advance....Vienna
