The gliders are pretty skillful at climbing from picture to picture without knocking them down. Even with a picture held up by very little, they haven't knocked it down -- regardless, I still make sure it is pretty secure. I have electrical cords, but they don't chew. If they did, I'd notice it pretty quickly and change them. I still take the precaution. I use thick cords, cover outlets, make sure the cords won't be pulled half-way out of an outlet, and unplug some of the cords I do consider a possible hazard. Mine aren't tempted to sleep with me while I'm laying down. If they were, they wouldn't be loose. A few will burrow under the covers and explore the bed completely, but they seem to realize I'm a sleeping giant. Angel will swat me on the nose if I haven't played with him earlier in the night, but he knows enough to run over the side of the bed once he does. I'm not married, roommates don't come into my room unless I trust them. The time one ended up in the toilet was because a roommate left the toilet seat up and the door open. I know I can't control the roommates, but I'm there if something happens. Mika just outraced me to the bathroom. They are also not given the opportunity to stay in a place I don't want her to be. The times Mika tried to make the stove a home, she found out quickly it was not the place to be if she wanted peace and quiet (I'll give freedom until they make the choice I don't like...figure it is part of training them as to which activities I don't like) I don't have any fears of them getting caught on pieces of clothing, going under the bed, or going under the dresser. Mine have plenty of skill at landing now. Angel didn't used to, but they've had plenty of practice. Mika has jumped from 30' up and landed pretty softly on me. She can hit the palm of my hand from pretty high up. If you ever want to see the definition of graceful, watch a 4 month old ride a gust of wind. I'm sure I give the gliders plenty of freedom in which they might get into some trouble, but I'm there for them quite a bit. As long as I am reasonably careful, the fun for them outweighs the risks. Read Clara's page, it answered a lot of your questions. Thanks for giving me your URL, I've seen it before, but forgot where. Read hers, add to your site, then I'll give you suggestions. It looks pretty good so far, you might want to extend some of the dangers though. The biggest danger of couches is people sitting on them when they can't find their glider. This goes for beds and using appliances. One things not mentioned that in either yours or Clara's is automatic paper shredders (would hate to have a glider stick a foot in the opening). You might want to link to Clara's site to give people two forms to read. -Thomas
