Your diet sounds ok. A heating pad under the nest box might help with temperature control, but you need to be sure that it doesn't get too hot. I use something called a baby saver that we purchased from another chinchilla breeder. It is specially designed to put out just a small amount of heat so that it doesn't get too hot.

It sounds like the mother may have a problem with milk production. Are you able to peek into her pouch to see if the nipples are enlarged? If the babies are under nourished, it may account for their cooler temperatures. I wouldn't remove them from the mother, but I would start feeding them every 2 or 3 hours during the day. The mother will continue to groom them and care for them as long as you put them back after you feed them. This will make your life far easier as you won't have to worry about cleaning off spilled baby food, and she will also take care of their potty training (babies go in the nest and mom will clean it up).

Keep in mind that while you are supplementing them, they should lick the drops off the end of the dropper, it should not be put in their mouths. I have successfully hand raised babies, it is a lot of work, but it is possible. Good luck!
