I also add to the vegie bowl their extra proteins.. such as cooked chicken breast... and a meal worm now and then for treats. When I first got this trio Bumble ( who has the two BIG healthy babies now )had a baby recently oop that the family kept ( and I recently purchased/rescued this last month ) and Sassy supposedly had twins in her pouch, then one... then none... I from what the woman told me and from this I assumed their diet was lacking so as soon as I got them I begin the increases in variety and also in protein and calcium... apparently it worked since they both had twins in the pouch shortly... I probably gave too many meal worms near the end because they would beg soo much, but I've cut back on that now. The trio and the four little ones were housed in the LARGE cabinate style cage together... NO drafts what so ever, room kept 72 all the time... they had the choice of the nesting box and also two fuzzy cage pouches, resently they were all in the box together... at first these two little ones were the same as Bumbles babies but w/i 5 days you could see a definate difference in size and movement etc... where as all the others are warm to the touch these two little ones always feel cool to me, even when huddled upto mom and the rest, I just removed her and them two days ago they are in another warm draftfree cage in the same room, they are in one of the fuzzy pouches... mom is warm but the little ones still seem cold to me, plus they dont move around all that much... and I've never heard noise out of them even when trying to feed them with the puppy milk.. where as my other two joeys are running around and constantly making sounds at me. Both of the little ones eyes are open, and they will take some of the milk, one more then the other... plus they are still nursing on mom. Shes eating well, only leaving alittle in the am ( plus i tend to offer to much I think LOL ) shes playful and curious as ever, even more loving actually... she cuddles her babies and will lick any of the suppliment milk off of them that might have gotten on the fur with my attemped feedings... but they dont seem to be improving or gaining any weight.. and like I said they still feel cold to the touch, we were going to place the pouch ontop of a heating pad on low as soon as I get home from work... does this sound like a good idea? Also.. is it best to leave them with the mom since she is still trying to nurse, or should I remove them and attempt to feed them and keep them in the small plastic type container ontop of a heating pad...after them comming this far I dont want to lose them! thank you again, and I heard that you're going to forward me a copy of a converstation about my little ones... I greatly appreciate all your help and prayers! Sincerely,
