Thanks all of you that responded!! Got great advice from all.
After going to see
the little guy I have a whole different impression of what is
wrong. It was not
his whole foot that was swollen, just his knuckle of the
middle toe. It is like
the toe has little mobility in it. He did not seem to be
bothered by it though
and jumped around on it, used it to groom him self etc. My
thinking is that it
could have been broken? Or could be a deformity? She went
ahead and soaked the
toe in the Epson's salt until she caught him drinking the
water too. I now will
call the vet on Monday and see if he thinks I should bring
him in. Or maybe some
of you would know if there is really anything that can be
done for that toe?

Thanks again...and don't fret...I did convince her not to
feed cat food..:o) She
found out that idea from a book in the library. I do tend to
prefer more natural
things like moths, crickets and meal worms.

: :Hi, I had a problem with my gliders foot this past week.
: My vet told me to use neosporin or cortaid, neither can be absorbed through the stomach lining, so licking isn't a problem. If he continues to lick you may need to put a collar on him for an hour or so after applying the disinfectant.Reapply every eight hours or so. The cortaid is more effective because of the steroid in it.
