Ramona,
I found the easiest way to get my gliders out of the cage to clean was to do it when they're asleep, pick up his sleeping pouch and put him in a
critter keeper box. It's a little plastic box with a vented lid, you can get them at most pet stores. He might wake up and look around confused for a bit,
but he should go back to sleep.
As for being up after midnight, yep, that's going to stay the same. He may wake up earlier, but he'll be up all night.
Now, the airline thing. I have some experience with this, although not transatlantic. I just fly across state. I called my airline to find out what
kind of contraptions are approved for planes. Sugar gliders are not allowed on airplanes because of some rules about exotic pets and no vaccinations. I
don't know the exact law, but it boiled down to sneaking them on the plane. I used a waist pack, kind of hidden under my jacket. I did have to put it
through xray once, but the picture looked like the outline of a beanie baby. It's best if you fly during the day, while they're sleeping. I would suggest you
call the airline and ask what their policy is. More than likely, you'll have to sneak yours on. Good Luck!

: I just got a sugar glider almost 2 weeks ago. I started by putting my hand into the cage to make him used to my scent. He is progressing, but it seems slowly - which is not a problem. I havent' picked him up yet, but I can pet him when he is asleep. Another thing when he plays during the night I usually put my hand in and it seems like he doesn't mind at all. He jumps up to the lid of the cage and when he jumps back down he very often lands in my palm. Sometimes he stays for just a tiny bit sometimes he jumps right off. He takes grapes and other fruits from my hand.

: So now my questions:
: He is usually up after midnight. Is that going to change at all ???
: It is about time to clean his cage properly (with diluted clorox). Therefore he has to be out of the cage to do so. How am I going to do that ?? I haven't even picked him up yet.
: When I have my hand in the cage he often makes sneezing sounds - what does it mean.
: How would you comment the whole situation - do you think that I am having a tame sugar glider soon ???
: Can you take a sugar glider on an airplane (trans atlantic) - what about the airline and custom of USA and the European Union ???

: I hope to hear from you very soon.
: Thanks in advance.

: PS: I hope you don't mind so many questions.
