The fear of various parasites from live branches have many people scared. In the wild who was telling the gliders which trees to be on? parasites, insects and trees are abundant no matter what part of the country they come from.

Bourbon,

I agree with your intentions, and you are right... they do have all kinds of trees available to them in the wild. But on the parasite issue, I think the main thing is that if a glider contracted a parasite in the wild and died, none of us would ever know it. If my glider died, on the other hand, that would be a major life adjustment. We're all just trying to look out for our little guys, and I think most of us would agree that it's better to be safe than sorry. On that topic, too.... if you bake the branches in a 350 degree oven for a half hour or so, all of the bacteria and parasites will be killed. FYI. That's what they tell you to do at pet stores for iguanas and snakes and other critters. Hope this helps!

Kim
