Tiffany,

I've got a wooden nest box too! My breeder highly recommended it. I, too, provide all the necessary branches, toys, etc, and my glider just started eating her box, too. Hmmmm. It's probably just a stage, like everything else seems to be!

Here's some information I've recently absorbed from isga/glidernet lists. I think you might find it interesting. As far as cleaning the branches and cages are concerned, sometimes it's better to leave them dirty, for this reason: Gliders "mark" everything with their urine. If you take it out a clean it, they will remark it (again, and again and again - PU):( But, some folks have found (myself included, that if you just leave them alone (maybe with a air purifier, or dehumidifier), the smell goes away almost totally (completely totally in my case), and they stop remarking. Then I just change the liner every couple of days or so, and no more smell. Just thought I'd pass it along, it works for me!

Happy glidering!

Kristi

: Terry,
: The biggest problem I have with the wood in her cage is not that she urinates on/in it; I put it through the dishwasher rinse cycle once a week or so and it's fine. The biggest concern with wood for me is that she is systematically EATING her nesting box! So far, she's gotten about through the first layer of wood. This is pretty strange, since I provide her with safe branches to munch, and lots of toys to play with, and a dog buiscuit each night to munch, too. Does anyone have any thoughts? I would think maybe she was bored, but she has sooo many toys and a huge cage, and I play with her constantly when I'm not asleep.
: Thanks,
: Tiffany
