I agree that care must be taken. that is not the argument. Care can be taken and a healthy physical and social life can be given to our fuzzy friends. I also work with many exotic and endangered animals, and I have to say that I have found gliders too be very hearty little boogers. No one should get one on awhim, that is a given but isn't that true for any thing not just gliders or even pets? I'm saying that it is a good way to bring knowledge and awareness to all, about exotic pets and especially gliders if they are in a school. It's not torture to them That is all I have to say on the sbject. Actually there is more but That is all that needs said : I dont want to go off an a tangent here, I know that people think that many of us are "off the deep end" so to speak about how protective we can be over gliders. However, these animals are among the most fragile creatures I have encountered and I deal with exotics on a full time basis ranging from tigers to pigmy possums. I have been around this board long enough to watch many of the most loving, attentive owners have their pets die for a variety of reasons, including myself. : The organization that I work with takes in more and more animals every day and most of those were ex-pets that people bought while it was the latest fad and never did an adequate amount of research to find that these animals needed extensive care. People bore easily, school budgets change frequently and the children will never be around after they leave that class/grade. : I think that many people here can attest that even if you have more than one glider, the caretaker still becomes an important part of a gliders life and is not replaced by their mate. : I hope you see that we have all become so protective out of a proven need to be that way for the welfare of our fuzzy little friends.
