Subject: Introducing new glider: Suggestions or Comments Posted by Sadie on October 18, 1999 at 11:11:59 from 38.222.164.2 I was lucky enough to get a new glider for Oscar (remember we lost Laney, his mate, a couple of weekends ago). I have a new area for them I turned a walkin closet to a large animal kingdom. It is totally animal scent free. I have kept both cages right next to eachother. They showed curiosity and no animosity to each other. I put Oscar in the new home first- so he would know where his bed and food was. Then I added the new 2-year old gal. At first they ignored each other. She really didn't show any interest at all. After a bit she did the expected thing of exploring the new home. He did the same until he realized he could actually touch her. Now I realize they need some time to get to know one another-but I'm concerned. You see she just freezes up and plays possum while he grabs and yanks brutely all over her. He even had a hold of her face and looked like he was biting over her mouth and ears. She doesn't make any noise and just freezes. I got 'em seperated and she tried to continue her exporing- but he continued to molest her. My daughter just thinks he is just trying to mate with her- But he never treated Laney like that. I put her back in the cage but left her inside the new home. Whenever I checked on them she was normal and playful. He was exporing the new home and spending a bit of time trying to get in her cage. Suggestions or Comments???? Also: The new lady seems to always have her tail all curled upword (like a skunk)-I never saw Laney do that either is that a norm?? Could that mean she wants to mate with Oscar Sadie
