Gliders are very energetic and because they are nocturnal, night time is their play time. If you cannot be sure he won't be harmed or misplaced, you need to cage him at night when you are away or asleep. The exercise is good for them and they also have a ball in those running hamster balls (but don't try a wheel, because the tail can get caught in it).
