: Hi all, I have just acquired an adorable little male sugar glider, 8 weeks out of the pouch.
: I have had him since Sept 23, and at least he no longer "crabs" as soon as I walk by his cage (I named him Taz after the Tasmanian Devil because of that noise!).
: He is taking treats from me, and will walk up my arm, but when I bring him out of the cage he just tries to make a get away.
: He also "crabs" whenever I try to wake him up during the day--something I am loath to do because I don't want to scare him.
: He is eating well and is very active at night, but he doesn't tend to get up until 1 or 2 am. Any hints on how I might be able to make friends, and get him to wake up earlier without annoying him?

: I'm not planning to get him a companion just yet, as I can spend a lot of time with him.

USE LIGHTS ON AND COVERED CAGE STRATEGIES TO SHIFT HIM TO A SLEEPING SCHEDULE THAT WORKS WELL....WHEN IT GETS DARK THEY PLAY AND IN LIGHT THEY SLEEP, YOU CAN USE THIS TO AN ADVANTAGE SO YOU GET MORE TIME WITH YOUR GLIDER...ALSO, IF YOU ONLY WAKE THE GLIDER AT ONE CERTAIN TIME DURING THE DAY, IT WILL START GETTING UP AND WAITING FOR YOU TO COME AND PLAY AT THAT TIME....DON'T ASK ME HOW, I DON'T KNOW, BUT THEY DO...........
