I work for an allergist and have seen all kinds of allergies, but
sugar glider allergies I have not seen (probably since they are not
a common household pet).
I do know, however, that allergies are caused by the dander on
animals (their hair/fur/oils ect) and not saliva. You can be allergic
to cats and not dogs or visa versa.
It is hard to tell if your fiance would be allergic without either
being tested (although I can't think of many allergists who would
have sugar glider serum)the other way to tell is to get him to
be around some for a period of time.
You can also be allergic to feces of animals (or poop). A common
allergy to poop, is cockroach.
Good luck to you and hopefully gliders will not be added to his
allergy list.
