: It's been 4 months since i adopted my daughters neglected 8 month old glider. I've watched him go from inhibited, scared, depressed to vibrant and healthy with some meat on his bones!!!!! His reaall change really came about with the addition of 4 month old lucy 2 weeks ago. I thank all of you guys for all the help on this site and glidernetwork. some of you I've talked to on the phone , elwin and terry, and of course bourbon has added lots to my knowledge!! and I appreciate all the advice. I'm just thankful that my daughters neglect of alex (I know he wasn't fed right, his cage was never cleaned, and he lived in a sock!!! food was left for months!!!) hasn't seemed to result in any permanent harm. He still has the hairless spots on his ears that he got when my husband and i went on vacation for 4 days though. god loves gliders!!!

I am so glad to hear that he is doing so much better in your care. I too had rescued a glider like the one that you describe. She has been placed with a male, she was three years oop and had never even seen another glider until she had seen mine and I could tell that she was ready for a mate. Anyway I digress, I placed her with a vet that had a mature male. Now everyone is happy! She and his male hit it right off the very first night that they met. It is joyful news like this that you shared that gives the rest of us hope in the glider kingdom.
