I have 2 gliders in a state where they are illegal, I bought my first when I was living someplace else where they were legal, and when I moved, I couldn't part with my pet. I bought my other glider in this state from someone I met on the internet. While I don't like the idea of my gliders being taking away, I don't worry about it too much. I don't take them out of my apartment in my pocket, they only leave when we are going on trips. I don't publicise that I have these pets, only friends that I trust know that I have them. I even have a vet who I know won't turn me in-she believes if I care enough to take them to the vet, then they are in good homes. She lists them in her records as opposums. So anyway, if you get a glider in CA, enjoy it in your home-do not take it out of your home in your pocket-I can see someone getting in trouble that way. Also, only tell whom you trust about your little one, no matter how tempting it is to tell all. As for vets, find out where the people with illegal ferrets take their pets, and go there if need be. Chances are you would be safe. I think most vets are animal lovers, and if they see an animal taken care of in a good home, they will overlook the legality unless it is a threat to society.
