Subject: Inexperienced owner needs help Posted by Allie on January 10, 19100 at 20:04:23 from 205.188.199.202
I have 2 male gliders one is 5 months and one is 7 months. I have read a lot of information about how to care and bond with my babies, but nothing beats experience so I though someone here might be able to help me. I have been trying to feed my gliders by hand. They take the food for a bit and then crab at me. I also pet them while they are sleeping but when they wake up and crab also. Should I keep doing these things after they crab at me or would that be pushing them? Also, I know that I should spend about 2 hours per day with Mogley and Rocky, and I am extremely willing to do this. However, I tried to pick them up and they sometimes crab and sometimes they let me. I put them in my pocket for a while but then i can't seem to get them out. I have stopped doing this but have kept talking to them often (I just moved to Boston by myself and they are all I have here)and I pet and feed them. Should I keep trying to pick them up or wait until they are ready to come to me? I fear that trying to get them out of my pocket makes them mad and then they won't trust me. I love the little guys, but they don't seem to love me back yet (its only been about 6 days). How can I spend 2 hours a day with them if they don't want out of their cage? Sorry this is so long. Thanks for your help!
