I greatly disagree with petshops selling gliders for one very big reason above all the little discrepancies. The hours of the usual petshop is ... 9-5... Gliders are awake from ... 10-5... that means any type of interaction between consumer and glider or pet shop employee and glider is during the gliders sleep time this totally throws off the gliders schedule rendering them cranky irritated and very ill of temperment. Not to say the least that most petshops lack the knowledge to prepare a good nutritional balanced diet, or feel that a pouch hides the glider from view so the leave a parrot food dish in their cage for "shelter" These blatant disregards for the well bveing of the glider and the need to educate potential consumers I greatly mind.
What I don't mind is censoring homes for them. I have come up with a contract of sorts that is in the works. I was contacted about Pickle yesterday and after E'mailing the "rules" that I have for a good home. The person hasn't contacted me again. My question is this can we come up with a good set of rules to hand out. I am leaving myself up to 'constructive' not destructive critism here. So here is what I have started to compile in my list of rules everyone add their two cents and maybe we can come up with a good set of rules to hand out to our clients/homes of our babies.

This is what I sent to the person who contacted me:Here they are basically just a standard type contract, I am still working
out the kinks so if anything is missing or awry let me know OK?

Payment: Price 150$ in money order preferably, cash is OK but you will have to sign an affidavit that you paid X amount on X day to me for X glider, IF you absolutely must write a personal check you will also sign an affidavit saying that you 'swear' that the check is good and agree to pay any and all fines from your bank and mine if the check goes default as well as a 25$ charge fee to me for the receipt of fraudulent payment. Age: You must state your correct age, if you are under 18 your parent and or guardian must accompany you to pay and sign the affidavit.

Knowledge: I will question you as to your knowledge and understanding of gliders as well as expect truthful answers to the accommodations you have prepared for X glider including cage, feed, and playtime areas.

Refund: Under no circumstances will a refund be issued. If at anytime you can no longer care for X Glider you will contact me and we will arrange for a no payment adoption of X Glider.

What you can expect: A healthy glider raised in a loving home, diet -Leadbeaters. A compassionate, knowledgeable
"veteran"glider breeder who is available 24/7 to answer questions and help in your dilemmas.

Then I need you to write me whether you have or have had a glider before or if you own other gliders, what type of diet you intend to feed, what type of cage you have or will get, whether you have a pouch or not, how you heard of sugarglider.com, whether you are a newbie or not, how long you have been interested in gliders, when you first discovered gliders, if you have any other types of pets if so what kinds how many, if you intend him to be a cage glider or an AE (American Express goes with you everywhere) glider, and last but not least if you agree to the terms of the other E-mail.
Then for my own benefit what other questions you think I should ask and any and all questions you have. I also need to add on to the other E'mail that I expect contact to be maintained at least once a week for the first six months and once a month thereafter. Contact being letter, phone call, or E'mail just to say Hi we're fine or I've got a problem!
Ok? Hope to hear from you soon! Ashjan.

These are things I felt I had a right to know as a glider parent. If you guys feel that I overstepped my bounds then let me know. If you have anything to add please post it. I do however firmly believe in the before and after customer service especially since pet store don't usually offer this. + 2 cents. Ashjan.
