It may also have something to do with the length of the day. Breed as the days start to get longer and the joeys will be ready to come oop in the spring when there are lots of bugs, baby birds, etc. for the mother to eat as well as all of the fresh plants. I actually keep my temperatures lower in winter and I have quite a few less joeys born during that time of the year.
