The father is showing very little attention. He has been wandering on his own and has not returned to the nest. I don't want to take the joey unless all else fails. That is why I am hoping someone with experiance can tell me when it IS the right time. I don't have the experience to know what to look for. Like I said....this joey does not stay with the mom...HE is the one that climbs away!! If Mom was spitting at it..pushing him out...or any other sign of rejection I would just take over. This is not the case as yet. Thanks for your input though. Sure wish there were more owners up at this time! : I cant really help about be abandoned because my babies never were. : but maybe the first joey came oop early and it can take : days for the second. Tey may not be the same age. Where is : the father? does he help out with them? Sometimes she : needs time away and will leave them alone. the other day : my female left one baby in the nest and the other went : about the cage with her. Sometimes they both go and : sometimes neither go. I would watch them : closely to see if she nurses it before taking it from her. : Good luck and choose wisely. : Brienna : : How do you tell if a new oop joey is being abandoned? Willow has : : twins : : just oop yesterday for the first time that I know of. She was out : : playing this evening with one left in the nest the other still in the : : pocket. When she went back in she didn't go to the joey. So I picked : : it up and brought it to her. She sniffed it and nudged it but the : : joey : : won't stay with her. He keeps wandering away by himself. She is not : : antagonistic at all with it! Has anyone seen this before? Should I : : just try to supplement just in case?
